ABVO Critical Dates & Deadlines

ROLLING DEADLINES

Provisional Residency Applications - Due 30 days before the start of the program

Residency Training Program Applications - Due a minimum of 90 or 120 days prior to the start of the program (see RTP application form, page 2, Application Instructions, item number 1). Applications will now be accepted and reviewed twice annually on August 15th and February 15th. It is the goal of the Residency Committee to review and approve/decline all RTP applications by October 1st and April 1st. A delay may occur if additional information is requested by the committee.

2024

JANUARY

5th - Six month Supervising Diplomate & Resident Evaluations due to Residency Committee

15th - Credentials Exam applications due from anyone applying to take the ABVO Certifying Exam to Credentials Committee (midnight Mountain Standard Time)

15th - Supervising Diplomate forms due from each supervising diplomate for first-time Credentials applicants (midnight Mountain Standard Time)

20th - Credentials notice to candidates

February

15th - Applications for Residency Training Programs (Universities or Clinics) Due

MARCH

Exam Committee sends out test notices and registration/payment information to applicants.

APRIL

1st - Call for Board Nominations Opens

1st - Exam Registration and Payment Due Online (*NEW IN 2024)

MAY

15th - Call for Board nominations closes

25th - Board nomination materials due to the ABVO Office

JUNE

1st - ABVO board member voting commences via online voting; Diplomates to receive online voting link via email

30th - ABVO board member voting closes this evening

30th - Maintenance of Certificate Applications due for Voluntary applicants (those boarded prior to 2015) at 11:59pm MST

JULY

New Board members will be announced on this website in early July.

5th - Supervising Diplomate & Resident Evaluations are due to Residency Committee

July 29th - August 2nd - ABVO 2023 Certifying Examination in Denver, CO.

AUGUST

July 29th - August 2nd - ABVO 2023 Certifying Examination in Denver, CO.

New Diplomates notified of exam results post exam results finalization
Exam result notification letters mailed to mentors post exam results finalization
New Diplomates announced to ACVO and ABVO post exam results finalization

ABVO board meeting at ACVO conference
Meeting between ACVO Diplomates and ABVO Members

23rd - 26th - ACVO 2023 Annual Scientific Conference in Savannah, GA

NOVEMBER

1st - Maintenance of Certification applications open

15th - Credentials Exam applications open for next exam cycle

DECEMBER

31st - Maintenance of Certification Applications due for Mandatory applicants (those boarded in 2015 and beyond) at 11:59pm MST
